Why would successful Golden Krust founder and CEO Lowell Hawthorne kill himself?

It's the heart wrenching question being asked by the family, friends and employees of the Nationally famous Golden Krust Caribbean restaurant's founder, Lowell Hawthorne. Lowell Hawthorne, 57, shot himself inside the Park Ave. building near E. 173rd St. in Claremont about 5:30 p.m on Saturday December 2, 2017.

Hawthorne opened the first Golden Krust store on East Gun Hill Rd, Bronx NY in 1989. He went on to build the Jamaica beef patty resource into a national empire boasting over 120 restaurants in nine states across America. He migrated to New York from Jamaica in 1981, and had the desire to follow his father's path in the business of bakery, with the additional service of a restaurant. Golden Krust became the first Caribbean-owned business in the U.S. to be granted a franchise license.

He published his memoir "The Baker’s Son: My Life in Business" in 2012 and had gained successful sales. His last post at Facebook was November 28:

“I was always in search of the next honest means to make a dollar. Like many transplanted Caribbean nationals, I struggled to work and raise a family. I can only thank God for everything I have achieved. If my story here can inspire others to rise up and give it a go, I would have accomplished something meaningful.”

In time the investigation will reveal the truth to his demise, but right now it's all just speculation.
